HUMAN NEEDS?
Did you know there are three things that have a limited threshold? If not, they are time, pain, and death. And did you know truth, love, and knowledge are boundless? There are also three things needed for humanity to co-exist: truth, peace, and Basic Needs. Everything else is irrelevant. Suzy Kassem
The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and to be understood. The best way I found to understand people is to listen to them.
Did you know, having needs is not evidence of weakness, it’s human?
We have a natural desire to feel appreciated, and needed, but just so you know it’s our desire to love that’s more pressing. As simple as that may sound, one of the oldest human needs is having someone wonder where you are when you don’t come home at night; at least for me, it is.
I understand human needs because I understand everyone wants to succeed, but apparently, it’s not in the cards for everyone. I see people every day of my life that live without food and shelter. The mere idea of that leaves me to believe that there is one basic need we should all agree on, and that’s to be successful enough to supply food, water, and shelter for ourselves and our family.
The core of human needs is having a degree of certainty, significance, love, connections, growth, and contributions.
Of these six Core Needs, in my opinion, Certainty is the one I’m most concerned about because it’s critical to sustain life. Its importance lies in the search for security and comfort, and the assurance that the decisions we make will not cause pain in an effort to gain that comfort while being aware of the fact that there will be a bit of instability.
Just so you know, The greatest certainty in life is Death, the greatest uncertainty is Time. Carl Sandberg.
The word Significance gives us the quality of being important. Other connecting words are meaningful too like substantial, noteworthy, etc. The reason why significance is necessary for us is it simply means you can feel confident that something is real.
There is a difference between the significance and importance of the words; significance means there is something meaningful in the context, while the word important means having a crucial value. So, remember When walking through life, what your foes do derives its significance or consequences from the way you react. Joseph Brodsky
Love is to have affection for another person, or be profoundly tender, passionate, etc. There is also a need to take great pleasure in things such as; a love of music and sexual desires.
Love is unconditional. When we truly love something or someone, we can’t stop loving it or them, regardless of what they say or do. The thing about love is it reminds us of what truly matters in life, and it’s risky.
We don’t fall in love with people because they’re good people; it’s an emotion that can fail us. One thing about love is being caught in its passion, making it one of the most satisfying places in our emotional circuit, but being in a safe place is not one of them.
Studies show we all need to have Connections to feel supported, valued, and loved. Take, for instance, if babies are not successfully connected to their mothers, they won’t be able to survive. We need human connections to prosper and to have lucrative conversations.
We also need connections to stave off emotions like depression, loneliness, as well as connect to the ones that bring happiness and joy. Without connecting to other people, we won’t have a good base of people to support us when it comes to others. We also need them to care about us.
The worst way to connect to people is to be in awe of them, give unrealistic compliments about them in order to win their approval, envy, or to think they are superior to us. Did you know, Physical attractions are common, but a mental connection is rare?
Growth is a mindset to do better, but the importance of failure is it’s an opportunity to grow, and it’s also your personal effort that determines your abilities to connect to new challenges.
A growth mindset consists of knowing even good works can be improved by becoming more persistent when embracing an opportunity to grow. Put in the effort to make a path to master the essentials. Get feedback in order to identify the areas that need improving, while using setbacks as a wake-up call to improve.
Contributions: True happiness is about giving not getting, and it’s a selfless act to help others. No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave. Calvin Coolidge
Did you know only by giving are you able to receive more than you already have, and there is no one useless in this world who lightens the burden of another? Charles Dickens
