LOYALTY CAN SEND YOU STRAIGHT TO HELL?

There was a time when we stood by our friends through the thick and thin, because of loyalty, and we may have been right to do so.  Nowadays, it seems as if our values have changed, and loyalty has taken on a brand new meaning.

After years of friendship, I was disappointed to find how fragile a relationship can be and how easy it is to dismantle depending on how we define the word loyalty.

The definition of Loyalty is having a strong feeling of support or allegiance to someone.  In other words, if you are faithful or devoted to a certain person, you are loyal.  But don’t get it twisted true loyalty comes from the heart, not by contract.

I had a friendship that had endured over 40 years until loyalty became an issue.  It was then that I discovered I might not have had the friend I thought, and that I was merely a tool to be used as long as I agreed with their ways, that’s when I discovered friendships are the severest test of our character.

All it took was a request I was unwilling to fulfill; it was an issue of morals.

My so-called friend wanted me to introduce her to a male friend that was married, I refused, and all Hell broke out.

She had a history of being involved with married men, something that irked me throughout our friendship.

Finally, she realized I was never going to do her biddings, especially when it came to married men.  After a few more unpleasant words, she asks me where does my loyalty lie, while reminding me I was her friend first, and that I should stay loyal to her right or wrong.

She had taken loyalty a little too far for me, so I had to let her know if our friendship depended on me going against my values, and or morals to help her trap a married man, I had no loyalty towards her.   As far as I was concerned it was a matter of principle, not people.  Then again, some men are only loyal to their options, not me.

I agree with A Phillip Randolph who tells us, Patriotism has no appeal to us; justice has. Party has no weight with us; Principle has. Loyalty is meaningless; it depends on what one is loyal to.

Back in the day, I thought loyalty was if you stick with me, I’ll stick with you through the thick and thin, right or wrong, do or die.  Well, that’s no longer true, if am going down it will be because of what I did, not because of someone else.  But, if we are fighting for a just cause I got your back other than that, Oh Well!

I feel when a person is a friend, their job is to love enough to be loyal enough to show enough courage to tell l me when they disagree with what I said or did.

Any friend that feels as if I should abandon my morals or principals because of loyalty to them, or expect me to ruin my life because we are friends, will lose my friendship and respect.

Just so you know, I could care less about men who are loyal to the people that pay them, they should have no loyalty to falsehoods. I believe loyalty only belongs to those who deserve it.  In other words.

Don’t let loyalty become your Slave Master, but remain loyal to those loyal to you, and to those who respect the truth.

For most people, loyalty and friendship is not the same thing in my opinion.  Loyalty is derived from principles such as honesty and integrity, and it can never be bought, coupled with an honest opinion, like it or not.

As for me, the only people to which I owe my loyalty are those who never made me question theirs, or our friendship with questionable behavior just because we are friends.  The thing is, I can go to Hell all by myself without loyalty to others being the reason.
