CANCER: JUST SO YOU KNOW?

Everybody’s Cancer Journey is not the same, and God is not in the business of dispensing pain or drama.  He is a healer, so stop blaming Him for what the World has to offer while listening to the Devil and the Devillets encouraging us to give up on Faith.

Here is an example.

When I arrived home from having a Mastectomy, a sweet-looking old lady, who happened to be with a friend, took me by the hand while rubbing it ever so gently saying, we all have been praying for you, baby.  And then she asked if I knew Betty Ann when I said “no” she said, “Good because Betty Ann only lasted 6 months.”

Run!  The Devil is a liar and comes in all shapes, forms, and fashions, especially when we are weak.  Did you know To Kill the Head is to Kill the Body?

As for me, I sought the Lord. He heard me and delivered me from all my fears.  Psalms 43:4

Just so you know, with or without cancer life is a steady stream of ups and downs, ins and outs, good and bad, so on and so forth’s.  In other words, Cancer is just another worldly battle we may have to fight uphill.

I pray this next statement is not you from sheer experience.

Did you know there are those who fall apart if they see or hear the word cancer spoken in the same sentence as their name?  If this is you, you may already be dead in your head, coupled with you decided that fate for yourself.

Not I, Jesus Christ and Perseverence is King in my book.

Now don’t get me wrong, perseverance is not an easy task; it takes a steady persistence in a course of action, purpose in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement, with little or no indication of success, but this is clear; All things work together for the good of them that love God and those called to his purpose.

And just so you know, sometimes just surviving cancer is not enough; we have to overcome the memory and the toll it takes on our friends and our bodies.  I did not say to forget.

I had to learn to love my scars; they’re a blessing because they remind me of the fact that the Dead Don’t Heal.

And I discovered worrying does not empty tomorrow’s troubles and you don’t get to choose if or how you get hurt in this world.

Those who want, have the Creator on their side, not to mention they have already been given Eternal Life, whom or what shall they fear?

So breath in your courage and exhale your fears because new beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.

Remember Resilience relies on its goals to strive, and to overcome the unexpected, creating Sustainability, which is all about Surviving.

And just so you know it’s time for us to go int the world as over-encourages, because the world is already full of critics.

CANCER?

I don’t know about you, but I am a 3rd Stage Cancer Survivor who is I am tired of talking about what cancer did to me.  I prefer to talk about what it did not and could not do.

When I first read the poem What Cancer Cannot Do, (I don’t know who the author is) it left me with an odd feeling that something in me wanted to come out.

I soon found myself dissecting each verse for a better understanding of why Cancer is so limited it can’t cripple love or shatter hope, corrode faith, eat away peace, destroy confidence, kill friendships, shut out memories, silence courage, reduce eternal life or quench the spirit.

In 2008 I had cancer, and the more I thought about it, the more I understood just how limited Cancer really is.  It was obvious to me that cancer couldn’t cripple love simply because most know relationships don’t last because of the good times.

Relationships last because of love, respect and caring, coupled with the healing spirit we received from God.

Cancer cannot shatter hope.

No one I know plans to live a hopeless life.

Hope is a feeling we have that the feeling we have is not permanent.  So if you have hope, you have what you need to press forward.

Cancer cannot corrode Faith. 

I know faith can go far beyond what the eyes can see, so focus on the fight, not the fright.

I am living proof that no matter what the statistics say, there is always another way.

I suggest when you reach the end of your rope to tie a knot and hang on because your seeds of faith are always within you.  Sometimes it just takes a crisis to nourish and encourage their growth.   Did you know if we feed our faith through Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our fears will starve to death?

Cancer cannot eat away peace. 

It matters what we do, but peace cannot and will never be kept by force.  I suggest we not be in a hurry while doing everything quietly and in a calm spirit.

Did you know no matter how much havoc cancer may wreak on our bodies, it does not have the final say?

Craig T. Owen’s analysis tells us If God doesn’t take cancer out of us on earth, He will take us out of cancer, and home to heaven.

Cancer cannot destroy confidence.

Confidence is the foundation of all success and achievements.  Then again, not everyone will be saved.  That’s Life!

Be confident that cancer is not a death sentence for all, take your chances by using the Power of the Holy Spirit, while listening to your doctor, not the wagging of tongues.

Help yourself by being mentally and physical humble in your confidence, yet courageous in your fight, and remember confidence is feeling good about yourself without anyone having to tell you how beautifully bald, or how brave you are.

Cancer cannot kill friendships. 

When someone has cancer and you are a friend, be that friend.  Don’t miss your opportunity to reach out and touch the things you know as a friend and use them to help.  No pity parties allowed.

And just so you know, some friends can’t manage their own fears, so they may be unable to support you.  We need to understand, if that was to happen, it’s not always about you.

Cancer cannot shut out memories.

If you attempt to shut your mind down, that action allows depression to strengthen its hold.

And just in case you are not brain dead or planning on it, take into consideration Bill Watterson’s point of view, he calmly reminds us, The mind is like a car battery, it recharges by running.

Cancer cannot silence courage.

Courage is moving forward, not a disease you fear when wondering what’s ahead.  And just like all success is not final, not all failures are fatal, it is the courage to continue that matters.

Did you know with Jesus Christ you are stronger than you struggle and fiercer than your fears?

By developing discipline and strength, you can move far beyond any setbacks, and you will gain the courage to embrace who you are and your divine purpose.

Cancer cannot reduce Eternal Life.

We are eternal beings, and we that love God will never die.  Christians sometimes make themselves into elephants afraid of mice.  You have The Creator on your side, not to mention you’ve already been given Eternal Life.  Whom or what shall you fear?

Criss Jami points out; To be afraid of death or anything other than God Himself, in his and my opinion, is like an insult to Him.

Cancer cannot quench the spirit.

The word quench in Scripture is speaking of suppressing the fire.

Ephesians 6:16 tells us above all, taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 

I know cancer is wicked, but it’s your belief in God and trust in your doctors that will put the fires out.  I believe that because it was done for me.  I also believe what is written in the Bible as the Gospel Truth, so because of that, I believe Jesus Christ is the reason I am alive today.

I am not trying to take anything away from the seriousness of cancer, but I found the best way to cope, for me, is to treat cancer just like I would any other illness, setback or life event as just another part of life we will have to deal with, So deal with it.
