I SHOULD HAVE?
Should have. Would have. Could have. DIDN’T.
I am thankful to all those who said No to me. It’s because of them that I am doing myself. Albert Einstein
The words I should have has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silenced voice of justice when it matters, has made it possible for evil to triumph.
I should have done a lot of things, but I didn’t for a lot of reasons; I was leaving a job, for the sake of love, got a divorce, I should have taken some of the advice I gave to others, etc…
Instead of working on myself I was literally building another’s story instead of mine. My focus was on what they were doing instead of what Am capable of. The price was precious time.
The most precious gift to the living is Time! We need it like water to the body.
When the Know It All’s want to give advice using baseless opinions about what I should or should not do I say No Thank You. But, oftentimes the word No means nothing to those who proclaim their advice is the best out there.
First of all, I don’t recall asking for advice or suggestions.
What I do know is, when it’s all said and done I am usually in a better position than the information givers; If they were to take the same advice they give, one thing is for certain, they will find out if its good or not.
Did you know a part of a fool’s job is to give advice, but not for himself?
There have been times when I should have taken the advice of others but I didn’t. I should have excepted challenges under my own terms instead of following the guidelines of the unproven. I should have known to never take the advice of someone who has never suffered my type of trouble or pain.
There were plenty of times when I knew better than they, coupled with a better solution, all because I have a mind of my own and able to reason for myself. Sometimes we have too much respect for the opinions of others and not enough of our own.
For me, giving advice is like cooking–you should try the receipt before you feed it to others. And just for the record, a lot of times I should have taken the advice I was giving to others.
Then there were the times when I should have known better than to start something I knew I couldn’t finish. When we lay a foundation and are not able to finish it, most who see it will see us as a failure because we couldn’t or wouldn’t finish what we started.
I should have let go when I knew I couldn’t do or finish something by not accepting the responsibility and consequences of my in-actions. And I should have known no one can make me feel inferior without my consent.
No one can take over your body and mind if you choose not to give them that type of power. What you should know is No one can compete with you on being you.
I should have traveled further to find my happiness. I know now that It’s the Spiritual experiences of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude that defines our joy.
Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goals; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Thomas Jefferson
I should have gone where I was celebrated…not just tolerated. Hanging on to the hem of others are not recognized for anything other than being a blind follower. Read the rest of this entry »
