FOR A LACK OF COMMON SENSE?
Common sense is in spite of, not the result of education. Victor Hugo.
It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense. Robert G. Ingersoll
Normally, common sense tells the majority of us not touch fire simply because it’s hot. A lack of common sense tells us to set ourselves on fire. Good sense is to use common sense in a manner that is effective for all.
We need more than just common sense to navigate a vast array of stupidity when it comes to being reasonable. Common sense should attack unreasonable displays of nonsense knowledge when given to us by other means, like stupidity.
We are living in a complicated era that requires more than just common sense, especially when giving our opinions without forethought. If we decide to dominate the world with our wise and opinionated selves, we need an uncanny ability loaded with uncommon sense to get our point across.
George Washington Carver tells us; When we can do the common things in life in an uncommon way, we will command the attention of the world.
Heroism is an act of bravery that I believe is suffering from a lack of common sense, although I welcome it; the brave are left with deadly consequences due to their actions. An example is when an ordinary person steps in front of a bullet so that a stranger may live.
Most know uncommon acts of heroism isn’t for everybody, most are reluctant to get in harm’s way. At best, most will run and hide, but just far enough to watch the drama unfold while pulling out their cell phone to start filming.
In these types of situations, common sense should tell us to call the police instead of the News. Anything less than that is uncommon and unacceptable.
I believe common sense is widely accepted for all the wrong reasons, and the biggest misconception is too many claims have been made about having more of it than all the others. I think self-imposed common sense is unrealistic gibberish that lacks substance just so we can have it our way. The New Norm?
I know some transitions can be strenuous, but we can’t allow ourselves to abort common sense because of that.
