A POCKET FULL OF HOLES?
Now, therefore, saith the Lord of Host; Consider your ways. Haggai 1:5
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat but have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe yourselves, but there is none warm, and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag of holes. Haggai 1:6
In my opinion, in the Book of Haggai (KJV), the Prophet tells us to Consider our Ways when it comes to the needs of the church instead of leaving it in disarray. He tells us to raise the Church back to its former glory, coupled with warnings like the losses that can occur when we are not doing the right thing when it comes to humanity.
In other words, if we do not change something about ourselves all we have achieved may very well be in vain that includes, we may never get to enjoy our prized possessions because of our ways, ways that allow our hard-earned profits to go everywhere but of our choosing. More like down the drain because of selfishness etc…
Without The Word Of God, some will never figure out why everything they acquire or touch slips through their fingers like water.
The signs are clear. We invest in a new home and it burns to the ground before we get to live in it, we buy new tires just to have a blowout shortly after leaving the dealership, something precious is stolen that’s worth more to us than anyone can ever imagine. It goes on and on until we have nothing or we heed the Word of God.
Now don’t get me wrong, Things Happen, for lack of a better word. 🙂 And I know good people suffer the most in hard times, but let’s not get it twisted, you know what am talking about and to whom am speaking to. Shame on you.
I believe some are afflicted with The Pockets Full Of Holes Syndrome because of some personality flaw; inborn, taught; whatever, it’s just wrong.
I believe when we are motivated to use personal assets selfishly, by undoing the good deeds of others, making stupid acquisitions, denying those sufferings, being wasteful and hateful, and at the same time giving little regard to the needs of others, etc… Some would rather burn and kill everything they have than to share with others; as if hoarding possessions and cash can make the journey to the afterlife with them.
Consider You Ways, greed runs rampant in our society and it always has. Old habits are hard to kick, so avoid the Pocket Full Of Holes Syndrome at all cost, but there are rules.
The Bible tells us if we give we will never be without, even when we give our last because The Lord promised to give us more than we can handle.
Give, and it will be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal, it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
In others words, if you want, you have to give, and the more you give the more the Lord will give you to give.
FYI: Open your mind to the fact that there are more holes than just in your pocket. One of them is, Do not trust your memory, it is a net that is full of holes and the most beautiful prizes slip through it. George Duhamel, and it has been suggested that we keep all our troubles in our own pocket, make sure that pocket has a hole to release those troubles, and not at the cost of others.
If God has blessed you and you are not serving His purpose you may end up with A Pocket Full of Holes, and one thing about that is certain, A hundred times zero is still nothing.
It’s Something To Think About!
