WE WERE THERE AND ARE STILL HERE!
The Bible tells us in Job 8:10 But those who came before us will teach you. They will teach you from the wisdom of former generations. In other words, those who came before us laid the foundation in order for us to move forward.
John F. Kennedy made a big impact on me when I was just a young girl caught up in what do I do now? His words made we wonder what is my role coming from a family rich in the Struggle for Civil Rights.
He said Those who came before us made certain that this country rode the first waves of the industrial revolution, the first waves of modern invention and the first nuclear power. And this generation does not intend to founder in the backwash of the coming age of space. We mean to be part of it-we mean to lead it. JFK
I laugh at the young, laughing at the seniors, especially when their argument is What do you know, you’re too old?
Excuse me, but that question is a no-brainer. We no-nothing, outdated old people have experienced what the young have yet to realize, you would think our youth would know it is the seniors who are responsible for the world they live in today, and it took Years Of Experience witnessed long before their time. Too old or not, We Were There, And Are Still Here.
Just because some of us was born before you does not mean you will outsmart, outlive, be happier, or blessed with an abundance of common sense. Look I get it, the youth today may be more technically suited for today’s fast-paced world where most things can start with the push of a button, so maybe they automatically dumb us down. I can understand that attitude because that’s probably all some do know.
Perhaps we are perceived to be out of the loop because all we want now is a phone to check on the kids, to use in case of emergencies, and it has to have a loud bell tone, coupled with huge letters and a GPS; messaging is okay, other than that I don’t need it. Anyway, those features mentioned represent my personal needs, You do You!
Just for the record, I don’t do what I use to do anymore, but I would still be careful of how you treat me, just because I don’t do certain things anymore does not mean I forgot how. (boxing lessons, you name it) 🙂
The thing is; Not to forget who paved the way, laid the foundation, made the sacrifices, helped you to become a Geek. Check all that apply, and Praise God, giving him all the Glory while thanking those who helped to bring you A Mighty Long Way. Maybe Grandma’s Hands? I had a praying mother.
Most times I don’t like the direction the world has taken, it is what it is, the good thing is, I can fuss about it.
Some of you spring chickens like to pretend old people were always old, and it seems as if quite a few of you try to pretend that you don’t know with age comes wisdom and experience. Playing stupid don’t look good on anyone, plus I’ve seen that move before. I am a Baby Boomer and I have experienced things the generations beneath me will never know or guess unless I tell them, write it down or document in some manner.
Back in the day people drew pictures on walls, built the unimaginable for their time, etc… all just to tell the world They Existed.
We all live on Planet Earth physically, but some live in their head, and some have it both ways, the thing we have in common is different storylines (lives). It all started for me with a number two pencil I took to school on the very first day, so at times with a private pat on the back, I will say, because of the Grace of God, We’ve come a long way baby.
OH! Just in case you didn’t know, You have to live to get old, so Let’s pray it is in God’s Will that our children live long enough to achieve that goal. If successful, am confident they will know how hurtful it is to be ostracized by the young and dumb…who we once all were.
I believe God gave us an unrelenting will to seek knowledge and create something wonderful, but it seems as if we stopped making worthwhile progress when we allowed the Institutes for Higher Learning to govern how we raise our children. After years I have concluded that our children are in danger, and I pray for our teachers. Antiquated rules and low pay are impeding their ability to educate.
God has been taken out of the schools and parental right to discipline are restricted. When that happened my named changed from Mam to Ole Woman. I was there when it happened and I am still watching all this ignorance unfold.
Since we can’t whoop that butt anymore the level of respect is at an all-time low. Without parental and teacher control to discipline, our children are on their own with no repercussions for their behavior. And I have taken into consideration that not all children are bad. That’s my opinion, and am sure you have yours.
As far as progress is going, I am saddened because it seems as if the only progress we are making nowadays is the use of Technology, for Fraud, improving upon Weapons of Mass Destruction, and mistreating Seniors with foul language, home break-ins, car and purse snatching, etc,.
I take that all back, the young and old are catching Hell from today’s youth, period…As I said, I know it’s not all of them, but enough, so please don’t go there with not my kid, he’s/she’s a good boy/girl.
We elderly had no intention of things going left, and we never thought our children would become so disrespectful, well guess what, they did, and it will never end if we don’t gain control of them; taking disciplinary actions may be necessary, perhaps a must for our leaders to come forth with humility.
We can do it; but back in the day, our worldly advice was, You had better check yourself first.
FYI: You know it all’s, the ones who can’t pass a test in school, but quick to disrespect and steal from the older generations with ease, while claiming to know more than most, you can stay stupid by continuing on your destructive path, or you can grow old by being obedience to the Word of God. The choice is yours alone.
The whole world should take heed of the fact that there is a lot more to living than just trying to stay alive, there are rules and regulations, so in order to achieve longevity you must Honor your father and your mother, that Your Days may be long, in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12
And yes, that includes respecting me too.
It’s Something To Think About!
Thank you, Lord, for granting us the gift of age, and it is in Jesus name that we pray.
