I AIN’T LIKE YOU!

I AIN’T LIKE YOU!

I ain’t like you, nor do I want to be is the War-Cry of most people when being compared to most anything.  There are exceptions, one is you approve of the comparison.  But all Hell can break loose if that comparison is directly related to someone we are not fond of.

We are all different in our own way, and we come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and beliefs.  Still, some of us are alike in some very uncanny ways.  I have heard people say they have seen their twin from another mother, and I have seen people who look just like someone I know.  But, the reality seems to be we spend far too much time focusing on others instead of ourselves.

You would think our own personal uniqueness would out-weigh our desire to shed an abundance of attention on others, especially concerning the things that aren’t our business.  Our time should be spent on what we have in common, in order to make ourselves more relevant.

We don’t need a melting pot, we need a smorgasbord( variety)of diversity to use as a tool to help us maintain our identity while appreciating the differences of those near to us and around the World.  Instead, we focus on fear and superstitions just because we are different…

It’s not our differences that divide us. It’s our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences.   Audra Lorde

There are people who think they work better with the ones who are similar to them, and that may be so, but it’s how our differences work together that creates an intelligent and reasonable purpose to any subject.  I thought the point of being different was to bring about a difference.  No two are supposed to be the same.

I believe all of this Am better than you nonsense has a lot to do with a lack of the right kind of education and self-worth.  And just for the record, Strength lies in differences, not in similarities.  Steven Covey

Our diversities should offer a sense of self-worth, and the uniqueness to bring that gift to the World.

When we are flexible and can hear and accept new ideas, the more options we gain while searching for peace in our lives.  But, in order to achieve these things we have to understand other people’s point of view and create an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated and mistakes can and will be tolerated.  When we activate all our options we can open a slew of narratives besides our own.

Although we will never agree on every subject, most times when our creative differences clash, more than likely our Ego is the culprit.  That dream killer is the #1 reason some will never receive that all-important knowledge we all need to sustain growth.

Listen, there is enough room in the gallery for both of our works of art.  The middle ground is where the quality of what we have to offer can be judged because of a proper setting.  So I suggest we be keenly aware of the fact that Judgment is one of those ego tools that foster separation through comparison.  Peter Santos

At the end of the day we all have at least two commonalities; one, we are All Human, and two, we are all made after the Likeness of God.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he, them.   Genesis 1:27  KJV

Because of that Bible verse, I understand and I agree with Maya Angelou when she said, I refuse to allow any man-made differences to separate me from any other human beings.

The advantages of getting along with each other mean we can incorporate structure and strength into our lives, because if we don’t find some semblance of peace, we go to war, and I believe War is a poor demonstration of who can out kill the other.  We need to understand our differences do not define us, it’s what we do with them that makes us a better person, and an asset to others.

By the way, those fights concerning Religion as far as am concerned is just us fighting about a difference of opinions when it comes to The Creation.  You know, the ones concerning God and Jesus Christ; Is He, Was He or Wasn’t He, and an array of man-made institutions to support these conflicting ideas.

There wouldn’t be as much drama if we could only get a grip and realize sometimes we will be separated by differences, and sometimes we will be united by common ideas of respect and compassion.

Jim Coleman hit the nail on the head when he said; Our differences of opinions can be creatively stimulating as well as frustrating.  Oh, how well do I know that feeling, But let’s be clear?

No matter your standings; rich or poor, blind, cripple, maybe crazy, those differences cannot save you, nor can you save others by pushing your ideas on them.  Only Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior can save us, and He doesn’t push, so it’s up to you.

As for me, the one difference I am Not willing to change is Jesus Christ is Lord; that’s my belief, and I am sticking with it.

AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

Contacts can be found at the bottom of each post and sharing is encouraged.

AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

Don’t put yourself in the line of fire unless it is warranted, if not, you may discover the Earth to be a Punishment for you instead of a Reward.  That’s how I see things, You do you.

Just the other day I was visiting an 82-year-old male friend, and we were having a disagreement concerning some general topic that was of no importance to either of us.  No problem, but his granddaughter apparently was listening in.  As she passed by me she shook her finger and said in a very sarcastic tone; You should shut up, listen more and respect your elders.

Am I Missing Something?  She’s 34 and I am 70.   😦

Back in the day, if my parents were having a conversation no matter my age, I had better keep my mouth shut, and as far as telling their guests to shut up, I might as well sign my death sentence.  I was taught to stay out of grown people’s conversations and to respect the opinions of others even if I have to disagree with them.

The Bible tells us in Leviticus 19:32 KJV that Thou shall rise up before the hoary (gray) head, and honor the face of an old man (the elderly), and fear thy God: I am the Lord.  Somebody should listen.

I have met some beautiful people, physically speaking, and I have met some who were kinda hard to look at.  But by association, I have found the ones who were not blessed with physical beauty were far more attractive in their ways than the ones with natural beauty.

Am I missing Something?  The last thing on our agenda should be to not make ourselves or others uglier than we already are, especially in our ways.

Dee Artner reminds us that Judging is giving too much value on the surface and missing the value beneath.  And the Bible tells us, Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.  Proverbs 21:2  KJV

As a Blogger, I have received quite a few comments on norvielcherry.com and it’s almost impossible to single out certain posts, but one seems to catch my attention on a regular basis.  This reader is often complaining about how I could be more useful if I would stop talking about myself and spend more time with the concerns of others.  In my defense, I believe, if you did whatever you say you did, it’s not bragging, that is, if it’s for the good of others, and it’s a Testimony of facts.

I know God commands us to share what He has done for us.  And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach to every creature’.  Mark 16:15  NKJV  After all, I am a Motivational Speaker, don’t that count for something or:

Am I Missing Something?

I thought a Testimony was when we speak about what we have witnessed and what God has done for us and to share that with others, so as for them to learn from our mishaps or goodness, and to not be ashamed to confess that, coupled with what He will do for others.

Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.  Psalms 66:16  KJV

And just so you know, at times, it’s painful to read to some comments I receive when one gives a Testimony on my Blog, but my job is to motivate no matter how hard the subject, by being a Living Witness for Jesus Christ, and to not put myself above others.

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them; otherwise, ye have no reward from your Father which is in heaven.   Matthew 6:1  KJV

I was watching this TV show where 1st dates are reviewed, and the audience is given the task of picking the daters perfect match.  If you are lucky, and the audience picked the same future mate as you did at the beginning of the show, you can win a large cash prize, including an overnight stay at some fancy resort; With a stranger?

If the audience did not pick the same mate as yourself, you can still get the cash prize if you give up the person of your choice, regroup and choose the one the audience thought was best for you, therefore dumping your new-found loved one for the money.  Now don’t get me wrong but, that might not be such a bad idea since You Don’t Know Either of Them, but you’re still coupled with a stranger, and with money that has strings attached.

Am I Missing Something?

This sounds just like a game devised for the devils and the deviletts, and it’s almost as bad as Marriage At First Sight.  Who does that?  The foolish.  You don’t know these people or their convictions, and this is almost or as dangerous as Hitch Hiking.  You just don’t do certain things if you value your life.  If you want a companion, seek Jesus Christ, then ask Him for one.  What is to be will be.

Am I Missing Something?

Didn’t the Bible tell us; Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?  1st Corinthians 6:14  KJV

I know there are a lot more variables than what I just mentioned, but they should give us a clear idea about how to handle things if we just Stop, Look and Listen before we do anything by putting God First in our thoughts, efforts, and deeds.  This is a good way keep our own foot, out of our own mouth and behind.

It’s Something To Think About!

To God Be The Glory, and it is in Jesus name that we pray.  Amen!
