WHAT BUCKET LIST?

Contacts can be found at the bottom of each post.

Life is stressful, that’s why they say “Rest in Peace.”

“To kick the bucket is to die.”  It was believed that back in the day; some say around 1785, people who wanted to commit suicide hung themselves by standing on a bucket with a noose around their neck and then kicking the bucket away.   😦   Out of that, for some reason, the Bucket List was born.  Just so you know!

Several friends including myself celebrate our birthdays in August, during brunch one of them suggested we do something together along with our individual plans.  I listened to all the great ideas and some poorly thought out suggestions.  Truthfully I was not too keen on most of the proposals.   One suggested we go to the Amphitheater, another was a Mystery Dinner Theater, the Jazz Club, have a Hugh party, so on and so forth.

I sat quietly mumbling under my breath, Been there Done That until someone ask for my two cents.  I know my friends well and I knew they were not up for what I wanted to do.  You see I am now a daytime girl.  I spent the latter part of my working career on the afternoon or night shift, so after I retired it took time for me to learn how to go to bed at night instead of running the streets.

After being harassed into giving my input you would think I started World War Three.  I knew these women probably wouldn’t want to go Zip-lining, White Water Rafting, or check out Wind Tunneling.  That type of activity was too much like a workout.  For some reason, after all, these years they still prefer to sit in some dark smoke-filled room listening to Jazz or whatever instead of enjoying the day and doing something different.  Don’t get me wrong I love Jazz, but I enjoy physical activities more.

Virtual Reality was not available when I was a younger woman. Now that it is, I want to experience the drama before I become too old.  After the girls had enough of listening to my suggestions one hollered out while laughing as hard as she could, “Is this your Bucket List, Cherry?”

Bucket List, since I don’t have any plans concerning dying soon, my suggestions had nothing to do with a Bucket List.  But, if I was to write a Bucket List there would be only one request on it.  Lord Please let me die painlessly in my sleep.

I was merely sharing my To Do List; I have a lot of living to do, and so far I have no plans on spending one minute concentrating on death projects…  I ‘m going To Do all I can while I’m alive.  One reason is, I have absolutely no idea of when I am going to die and don’t want to know, so I’ll just keep it moving.

Death cannot exist as long as we are alive, and without goals, we cannot score, so I don’t waste time planning things for the dead.  We all should know death is not something we can overcome…  The way you live will have been your life, so if planning your own funeral is your goal, have at it, and if waiting all your life to do something in your old age you should have done in your youth, have at that too.

FYI: Those who have had a good life do not fear death, they meet it calmly, and even long for it in the face of great suffering.  And those who do not have a peaceful conscience, dread death as though life means nothing but physical torment.

The challenge is to live our life so we will be prepared for death when it comes…
