Daily Archives: December 31, 2015

For some every day is a hassle; Thank God we survived it all and are ready to celebrate another New Year, coupled with great expectations that it will supersede the last.

On most days, one of the first thing we do after getting out of bed is to check the weather forecast.  New Year’s Day will probably start out the same way, but for some, the forecast will be: Mostly drunk with a slight chance of passing out.

Some will enjoy a New Years Eve party over a Church, or Sunrise Service, choosing to partake of different Spirits, (Rum, gin, vodka, etc.) hoping alcohol will help them to usher out the old and bring in the new.

Hoping for, instead of praying about, a New Year that is full of hope, dreams, and the anticipation of a better year.

May I suggest; If you are fortunate to be in the company of those most important to you on New Year’s Eve, toast the occasion with a heartfelt or witty saying, to help make it a joyous night to remember.

Although alcohol can fuel a good time, most times it’s our Dignity that will suffer.

It is only natural that most would want a new start, using The New Year as a stepping stone, but Somethings Never Change!

Pointless resolutions are one of them.  So may your troubles last only as long as your resolutions.

Be careful not treat the New Year like it’s some type of life-altering event.  There is no guarantee your neighbors will begin to respect you, or your boss will give you a raise, and wherever the ball is dropped on New Year’s Eve, Congress will still be dropping it in Washington the rest of the year.

What I am really saying is, there is a real possibility that things won’t go your way.

Now, it’s not all bad, there are some things we will want to carry over into the New Year, but the things that are not of God should be left right where we found them in 2015.

I can write a list of Thing to be Left Behind, but only you know what they are, where they are, and when to draw the line.  Maybe!

So, in 2016 instead of proclaiming what I will and will not do, I pray Jesus will guide me in order to work my problems out.  I pray that you and I will stretch out our hands in friendship, not for what we want out of each other.  I pray for the strength to be patient with my friends, as they are patient with me, and I pray to make the end of this old year the beginning of a better New Year.

If I must lie, let it be in the arms of another, and if we must cheat, I pray to cheat death through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  For His blessings overrides all darkness.

Don’t you be the one to start 2016 with old useless habits; Say goodbye, while toasting the things that are yet to come, (look to your future) and always rise above the small and ungodly.

You have brains in your head.  You have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.   Dr. Seuss.

Happy New Year, and thank you, Lord, for letting us see another one.  Amen!

P.S. I don’t know about you, but my New Year starts on my Birthday.  Just So You Know!
