WHATS IN A NAME?

15 Sep

And if anyone’s (name) was not found recorded in the Book of Life, he was hurled into the lake of fire.   Revelations 20:15  AMP

Don’t be confused by What’s in a Name, and don’t worry about it if the shoe doesn’t fit.  Some seemly bad names have good intentions.

It’s not what you think, it’s not how you speak, it’s plain and simple, some people will judge you by the physical eye.  (What you look like.)  Your name will represent what they see in you.  You can be a Doctor, a Lawyer, or an Indian Chief, that’s your job title, not your name.

Words have meanings and names have power.  Nicknames stick to people, and most are so ridiculous they are like adhesive sticking to us like super glue.   “Just So You Know,” a good name opens doors.

Our names are like labels, and plainly printed on the bottom of them is all our past behavior, good and bad.  Have you ever noticed that most people who use a name other than the one they’re earthy parents gave them are normally unappealing?  So there’s a lot to be said about your name, it usually represents who you really are.  (Personality wise)

Blacks, who’s real names were lost because of biblical times and slavery, were given the name of their masters.  Now we have a tendency to stray away from those slave names.   In my opinion, we choose to give our children names that will take them most of their young life to learn how to spell because they are too busy fighting over it.

Names can be hurtful.  When I was a little girl, the kids would tease me because of my name.  “Here comes that busted, rotten Cherry.”  Perhaps they saw me as being spoiled?

Through life experiences, and my Father, I found that people with names like Dog, Cocaine, Silky Smooth, Dirty Dave, Sugar Daddy, etc, are every bit of what their names imply.   It seems to be one of two things and sometimes both.

I met a man called Killer; he turned out the be the neighborhood enforcer, and if you didn’t follow the rules, oh well.  I met a man named Sugar, who was just the opposite; I never met a man who was as sour as he in all my life.  The dog was a real dog in more ways than one, and his name had nothing to do with canines; it had everything to do with how he treated people.  “You kick people around like some kick a dog,”  is normally what a conversation with him would sound like..Cocaine was a drug dealer.  Go figure!

There are some women out there with unsavory names too.   Some have them written across their butts; names like “Sweet Cheeks, Sexy, etc.  These names carry a message, a message most wouldn’t want our girl children to associate their occupation with.

Perhaps most of these unflattering names came from some type of drama (experience), some started off as a mistake, a mistake that stuck in the form of a name.  Now don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of good names out there.  With that being said; A good indication of someone who is honest, is someone who will start with his real name.

We give names to basically any and everything.  When we are in love it’s Mr. or Mrs. Right.  Nowadays, we don’t throw out disposable items, we simply rename them.  (Recycled.)  When we lose are parents, we are now orphans, if a man loses his wife, he is now a widower.  But when we lose a friend, we become silent.  Why is that, we had a name for them when they were alive.  (Best friend, neighbor)

In Western cultures, it’s the norm for a woman to change her name after marriage, I found nowhere in the Bible that indicates this is to be done.  I don’t believe it’s even addressed.  As a matter of fact, back in the day people didn’t have last names.

Even after all that name changing, coupled with name calling, according to W.C. Fields; It ain’t what they call you, it’s what you answer to.

“It’s Something to Think About.”

Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord, Praise ye the Lord.  It’s in Jesus name that we pray.  Amen

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this,
like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that
you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little
bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog.
An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.

Hey! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly?
My web site looks weird when viewing from my iphone4.
I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to correct this problem.
If you have any suggestions, please share. Thanks!

You realize a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not that I actually would want to…HaHa).
You definitely put a new spin on a topic that’s been discussed for decades.

    Wonderful stuff, just wonderful!
