Everyone want to be the one that gives all the advice; willing and ready to instruct whether the door for others to receive it is open or not. Perhaps that’s because it is easier to advise than to be advised. Seldom taking into consideration; A word to the wise ain’t necessary, it’s the stupid ones who need the advice.
Some people like advice so much that they buy the words, and then place them on their walls. (Bathrooms, kitchens, etc.) There is nothing wrong with that individual style, plus a good designer can make a room of words very colorful. Perhaps, the concern is some of us never think to use the words we read, especially if it’s sound advice and worthy to be repeated.
Anyway, some get more from a good scare than good advice. For the record, one of my mother’s favorite lines was; “I buy your books and buy you books, and all you do is look at the pictures.”
As far as friends are concerned, some of us only want their advice if it agrees with ours. And since some of us will never use good advice, pass it on, sit back and watch the results; results you may have wanted for yourself.
No matter what happens life goes on, just like unwanted advice. What happened to good intentions? Back in the day that use to come with good advice? Oh, I know; “The New Norm happened.”
It’s always good to let others air their advice, just never let them decide for you, and for goodness sake, never miss a good chance to shut up and get out, especially when the advice given want to take you to a place that is UN-winnable, or UN-worthy.
FYI: Don’t base your decisions on the advice of those who don’t have to deal with the results. And a word to the wise can be found in Proverbs 14:15; The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.
