TO KILL THE HEAD IS TO KILL THE BODY!

It’s not this hair, I am not this skin, I am the soul that lives within.  Rumi

As a Cancer Survivor and Living Witness for Jesus Christ, if I had it my way I would compose a manual concerning; What not to say when someone tells you they have Cancer.

When I have diagnosed with 3rd stage Breast Cancer the very words that were supposed to be helpful and without a doubt heartfelt, were the one that hurt me the most.  Insensitive comments like; “You know Betty Ann had the same thing, too bad she only lived 6 months.”  Who wants to hear that?

If we think about the words we use to comfort another, we will soon discover Satan has his own way of creating destructive tactics in our everyday lives and we are unaware of his ways.

Evil is often responsible for muting our voices from the truth, clogging our ears, blinding our eyes, and hardening our hearts.  It seemed as if every time I told someone I had cancer, they wanted to know if I had my “business in order.”  I did not tell, or even suggest to anyone I was dying, but apparently they had me dead well before my time.

If that wasn’t bad enough, still today, when I mention I am a Cancer Survivor and I am cancer free, the next thing out of whosoever mouth is; “So you are in remission?”   What part of I’m cancer free didn’t they understand?  Is this a cruel joke?  Some just close their hearts, shut the door and it was nice knowing you…Then there were those who knew more about my problems and how to handle them then I did.  All I wanted was a listening ear, not a mouth full of what I need to do.

Telling me “I am so sorry this had to happen to you.”   Well, so I am I, but most people suffering from life altering events are not seeking a pity party.  Yes, I was scared but I hung in there anyway, knowing some terrible things could happen.  But most of all-knowing some wonderful things could happen too.

I wanted to Live, and in order to do that, I had to conquer all types of fears.  I had to find a way to keep my head in the game, safe and secured from anything that was negative; including what my family members, closest friends, and associates had to say.  I knew, and it’s still true today in any and all situations; To Kill, The Head is to Kill the Body.

I knew those people and their negative words were meant to encourage me.  I also knew Satan was behind those words and they were unaware of that fact.  The thing is: As the patient, I knew my battle was between good and evil, leaving me as the prize for the victor.

I could not afford to let Satan or any of his unsuspecting cohorts put thoughts in my head that were detrimental to my mental as well as physical health.  I also knew I had a fighting chance if I kept the faith until God’s Will Be Done.  I could live if I waited on the Lord and not try to predict what the future held for me.  There was no need to rush the verdict.  My job was to make a choice.  I choose to believe I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.   Philippians 4:13  KJV

In other words, I listened to my heart where the Spirit of Jesus Christ lives.  And I know all things happen according to His Will, not Doctor this or Doctor that’s.  I kept the Faith and let the Will of God take the lead until His Will was Done.  Because of that, I Survived, although the doctors had no hope for me.

I am really not complaining about what others had to say, I just want you to know some take those words to heart, and that can lead to their demise, in some cases.  A weak person cannot hear their name in the same sentence as cancer without putting themselves in the grave.

I ‘m just telling you my side of the story since I was the one with cancer.  Believe me, when I tell you I am not trying to punish myself with what I say or alienate me.  I am telling you what I know for my Salvation, and to fulfill the purpose given to me.

I believe God’s purpose for saving my life is to give all another point of view, and this time it’s coming straight from the survivor’s mouth.   “Never accept the advice from someone who has never experienced the same or similar situation.”  Even the doctor that told me I had cancer never had cancer; they only knew what I told them about my personal cancer, and they worked with me from there.  (Medicines, etc., get the book))

I have been commissioned in my heart to tell you all I know about all I know.  Sometimes I tell hard truths, it’s up to you to accept what I have to say or not.  If you understand the lesson, then use the information to better yourself, or another; One thing, though, I promise you nothing I have to say out of my mouth will kill any positive thoughts you may have about your own unique situation.

Since I have been in that awful place myself, may I suggest you glean what is for you from it?  Cancer is survivable, I am living proof of that, as are so much more.  You can survive until you say you can’t, so don’t ever go there, some falls are hard to get up from, if ever.

Just one more thing I have to get off my chest and that’s; “No!  You do not know what is best for me unless you are Doctor Whoever, or Jesus Christ.”  So as a survivor, I will continue to do what I think is best for me as long as I am capable.  I appreciate the advice and thank you very much, but I will be doing things my way, and that don’t make me hard-headed either.

Whatever you do decide to do about any situation you may find yourself facing, remember John 15:5 gives sound advice; “You can do nothing without me.”  So a good place to start may be on your knees?  It’s Something to Think About!

Thank you, Lord, for giving us Jesus Christ to come and do an intervention for us in times of need.  In Jesus name, we pray.   Amen!

DID YOU KNOW? #23

Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be!  How much you can love!  What you can accomplish!  And what your potential is!    Ann Frank

Did you know you have the power to discover all those things with effort?  And did you know there is nothing that can be taken from you without your permission?  Nothing, not even your dignity!  It all has to do with how you see yourself and the ability to fight for you, which will involve changes.

Did you know if you can’t change your mind you cannot change anything?  Being accused of being stuck in your ways is not a compliment?  It is an act of defiance, and that is the # one killer of knowledge.  To not accept the truth just because of the source is for losers.

Did you know there are two things we are capable of changing right now?  One is to get started with a new vision, and the second is to see it all the way to the end.  When was the last time you did that?

Progress is impossible without change, everything involves changing something.  We learn as we grow, so not to grow is to not change.

Did you know; “Things never go the way you expect them to.  That’s both joy and frustration in life.  I’m finding as I get older that I don’t mind, though.  It’s the surprises that tickle me the most, the things you don’t see coming.”  Michael Stuhlbarg

Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches us the most about our destination.

Sometimes it’s the adversary that teaches us about truths.

Sometimes it’s just blind luck that teaches us the most, and sometimes it’s our greatest disappointment.

Did you know whatever it is, it all will involve change?

Change is the law of life.  And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.  John F. Kennedy

Thank you, Lord!   In Jesus name that we pray.  Amen

DO YOU KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS?

DO YOU KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS?.

DO THIS and DO THAT!

When someone is trying to mine my business, especially when they have no idea of what my business entails, coupled with constantly suggesting that I, Do This and Do That.  Most times those suggestions are out of my wheelhouse, and just plain wrong.  Plus that do what I say attitude has nothing to do with what’s good for me.  I can handle that, but when God is not in the equation, nor am I.

The god-sent person that believe they have my number say they know more about me than me.  Yeah right; in their mind, not in mine.  I bet they don’t know how many hairs are on my head.  The only person to know more about me than me, is God.  I have a pretty good idea of what I am capable of, and it does not include saying something as crazy as that.

You can say I am fussing if you wish, but when I say thank you for the advice, that’s the end of the conversation for me.  Move on with that tomfoolery, all it does is make me want to shout, Help me Lord!   Okay, so back in the day I may have been more vocal, if you know what I mean.  Oh well that was then, and this is now.

When I am ready to scream at the top of my voice, I try to breathe in one of my favorite quotes, one of those I used while battling cancer.  I don’t know the author’s name, but I surly like his attitude: Life take us to be brink of our limit and forces us to keep moving.

For me, it’s in my best interest to make the move.  I am one of those persons that don’t like being told what to do.  “You ought to.”  You ought to do you, is my suggestion.  I don’t like to be told to shut up, kiss anything, especially; “I know you better than you know yourself.”

It’s time to embrace Jesus Christ when those words have been spoken.  Those are fighting words coming out of the mouth of a fool.  Showing off is the fool’s idea of Glory.  Bruce Lee.  The sad part is, the fool doesn’t know that, and are not prepared to hear that about themselves, just dish it.

I can’t stay, I have to get the Jesus in me up and running, I have to show by example, while doing the best I can to motivate others.  (Which happens to be my purpose; I could lose my life if I didn’t.  You’ll  have to read my tell all book to get in on that part of my life.)  It’s just the way some people go about things; tacky, rude, and coupled with that big mouth.  “You don’t know what you’re doing.”   “You’re so stupid, you wouldn’t know what good advice is, even if it was staring you in the face.”

Some people are exempt.  I took those fighting words from my family, and not one of them has ever called me stupid.

I knew the best advice I could ever receive would have to come from the Holy Spirit, coupled with trial and error; we always have to do the work.  The last thing I was looking for, was not someone “with their dukes up?”   I have Jesus as a life coach, and I am rooted.

We are all unique and blessed according to Our Father’s Will, not the way we think, or the relentless unsolicited advice we get, thinks. The do this and do that people push hard for their way to be included into our lives.  Every time we look up here they come, ready to suck the life out of us, their way.

Some really believe their ungodly ways is the best way.  I don’t think so, unless they’re Jesus, and he don’t go there.  He signed a contract in blood to not take that route.

Father God, I pray you help the scholars (devils) with all that special advice; something may have a hold on them.  Amen!

Although the do this person is looked upon as a complete buffoon, ease up, some people didn’t get the memo: Some people aren’t good at anything, they just are.

Don’t get me wrong, even when I didn’t want to listen, if my spirit suggested I do, I did.  I had to fight me, just to get it done.  Satan is strong; Christ with we’re stronger.

Most problems manifest themselves when some smarty-pants, who has not done their homework, start to talk.  Yep, right off the top of their head, saying things with no prior knowledge of our personal situations.  (The no thought before giving advice, doldrums.)  Busybodies don’t have enough time to understand that their ideas may be helpful and valid, but not necessary for me…  “What is for me is for me.”

No one should be dragged into do this or that, weather they do or not.  I suggest we listen, there is nothing wrong with that, even a fool in the course of a conversation will tell you something you didn’t know.  Just weed out what’s not for you, and what’s not of God, then move on.

Talkers.  I was that girl.  I thought I was the only one with any sense, and that was only because I had no prior experience with real failure or despair.  I had on my rose-colored glasses and I thought ” I knew it all.”   Let me tell it, I had it going on.  Too bad that wasn’t the deal.  Once I woke up and realized most people are capable of making their own decisions, and taking care of their own needs, I backed off.

I learned a lot of lessons the hard way.  For instance: The tallest blade of grass is the surest to be cut.  Ray Bennett

I didn’t mean that statement as a joke, a fall from grace can be barn burner, it’s almost as bad as crabs in a barrow; they keep pulling each other down trying to reach the top.

Nowadays, seldom do I give my personal opinion without an invitation.  Everybody don’t want you in their business, and I am a witness only to what I have experienced, and I offer that knowledge in Testimony.  Testimonies that are all about, I have been there, done that, and I am wearing the scars.  They healed but never went away.  I caught hell, perhaps telling my story it will help someone else avoid that kind of heat.

When I stopped what I was doing and allowed Christ to use me, I actually received rewards for being obedient.  Even my bad grammar has not stopped me from giving Testimony; plus I have been blessed enough to share them you; I am sure you understand what I am saying, easily.

I am a Living Witness for Jesus Christ, and I almost had to die to earn the position.  But, I Survived 60 Years to Get Cancer, Then Kill It.   And it’s all good, now that I’m under the Authority of Jesus Christ, not Norvie L. Cherry.  You should try it, life is much easier.

Thank you Lord Jesus for all you do.  And when we are giving advice let it be you that composed our words, so that all will not be in vain.  In Jesus name we pray.  Amen

DO YOU KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS?

Do you really know what day it is?  I do!

There is no doubt it, today is my favorite day of all days?  I chose this day because of its importance; I am alive.  Today will always be my favorite day, until I wake up on tomorrow and find it to be a better day than yesterday; because I’m still alive.  But, until that day comes, it can’t get any better than this.

When we wake, whether it is in the morning, afternoon or night, we never seem to pay much attention to the fact that we are blessed and have been awakened by the Will of God.

How can such an amazing feat be so under appreciated?  We just get up and assume it’s all natural.  It may very well be, but there are forces at work we overlook.  Fore instants, Jesus Christ; who should be first on our minds and at the fore front of all we will be for today, tomorrow and forever.

“It’s something To Think About.”

It’s very seldom, if at all, we give thought to the fact that we are still breathing, a miracle within itself that is relevant.  We seem to take the most important aspects of our lives for granted.  Never giving thought to why, as if we have nothing to live for.  Automatically we assume this is just another day, (unless we have something big planned for ourselves) when in fact it is not; we are all here for a purpose.

It seems as if the gifts that really matter are often overlooked.  We are too busy looking forward to earthy gifts; birthdays, Christmas, and just because.  What about the Gift of Life?

You would think we would be jumping for joy, not overlooking the very essence of our existence, the Lord God.  Most think it’s water, when if fact it is the Breath of Life.

And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.  Genesis 2:7 (KJV)

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky.  Conscious breathing is my anchor.”   Thich Nhat Hanh

Once we recognize and start praising and thanking God for this day.  We may come to realize: This is the day the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalms 118:24

To God Be The Glory!  Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.  Praise ye the Lord.  Psalms 150:6  (KJV)  Amen.

Dignity and Humility, the Game Changers

The Secret to change is to focus all your energy on fighting off your old ways, and concentrate on building new ones with dignity and humility.  I understand by incorporating wisdom, we may recognize that everything in life has its own season.  This wisdom should not only be associated with human activities, but with nature as well.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 tells us: There are a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.  So it’s best to know when that season has come for you.  I suggest we look to the heavens for verification.  (Jesus Christ)

In my small world, the word dignity is bestowed on one who is respected by the community, and carry themselves in a pleasing manner before God…  A person who can carry their head high because of their character, while remaining true to the vision they represent to the world.  A person of their word, one that can be trusted with a great conviction.

But, that’s just me, too much work for some.  Managing our dignity is a labor of love, something to be nourished at all times.  Did you know the word dignity actually means an elevation of character, a token of respect; the state or quality of being worthy of honor.

Your dignity can be mocked, abused, compromised, toyed with, lowered and even bad-mouthed, but it can never be taken from you.  You have the power today to reset your boundaries, restore your image, start fresh with renewed values and rebuild what has been taken from you in the past.  Shannon L. Alder

It is in our best interest to understand that all labor that is done, should be done to The Glory of God, and all the work is done to uplift human dignity.  This should be our priority and carried out to the best of our ability no matter how uncomfortable it makes us feel.

I believe dignity is a process gained through good characterization, and rewarded with personal honors that are earned as well as deserved.  We sometimes think we are all that, when in reality we would fare far better if we concentrate not only on ourselves, but basic human rights such as:  Our love for family, our country, the justice system and respect for all humans.

Humility is the quality or condition of being humble; with a modest opinion or estimate of one’s importance, rank, etc.

Did you know according to Mother Teresa, there are a few ways to practice humility?

In order to get the ball rolling in the right direction, she suggested we start with minding our own business, while not being overly curious about how others handle their lives, and to not interfere in their affairs.  Also we need to learn how to accept contradictions and corrections offered by others whole heartily, and without malice.

Something I find hard to do when I feel the teacher is not qualified.  Still, we must make wise decisions when we try to overlook the mistakes of others, while learning how to accept insults and injuries bestowed upon us.  Having the ability to ignore being slighted, forgotten and disliked.  Even when provoked, be kind and gentle when under duress, and never stand on one’s dignity.

Perhaps, the harder the task, the more embedded the lesson.  It’s Something to Think About.

FYI: Remember when working on keeping our dignity at a high level of respect, the quality of being humane is humility; kind, benevolent, and merciful.

Religion in its humility restores man to his only dignity, the courage to live by grace.  George Santayana

In Jesus name we pray that we become all we can be through kindness, humility and respect.   Thank you, Lord, Amen.

IT’S ALWAYS SOMETHING

“If you are a Christian, you are not a citizen of this world trying to get to heaven; you are a citizen of heaven making your way through this world.”   Vance Havner

Obstacles are designed to obstruct or hinder progress.  Most times the obstacle that is standing in my way is me.  Did you know a lack of imagination can be a Hugh obstacle, perhaps a major player of why some have never experienced success?

Our imagination is the first step to creativity, and that gift can remove most obstacles.  Through experience, I realize the ones who have experienced a certain degree of success has also experienced heartbreaking failures?

Some of our failures were created because of the fear of…?  That fearfulness can and will create doubt.  Since we are already our own worst enemy, perhaps it’s not fear?  Pride can be a big contender in the game of Obstacles.

It was pride that changed angels into devils.  It’s Something to Think About.

Some of us face overwhelming obstacles; afraid to leave the house, afraid to speak in public.  Worldly fears such as germs, and unholy fears such as demons and ghosts.  The best way to overcome these obstacles is to call on the Name of The Lord, then face them using patience, perseverance, and for the most part, Faith.

Once we embrace The Love of Jesus Christ, we can harness our fears, coupled with the motivation it requires to conquer them.  We must keep our Faith and Energy at a high level of concentration in order to overcome even the unlikely barricades.  (Family, and friends.)

Our job, while obeying the Will of God; is to figure out how to go through, walk around, get over, or dismiss that thing altogether.  Then, accept responsibility; this promotes positive, physical, and mental growth; allowing the possibility of success to inspire us.

When we can overcome distractions, we can fulfill our purpose, while helping others through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Crystallize your goals.  Make a plan for achieving them and set yourself a deadline. Then with supreme confidence, determination and disregard for obstacles and other people’s criticism, carry out your plans.

There is a winner in all of us, find the strength to discover that part of yourself, then persevere to ensure your targeted goals in spite of overwhelming obstacles; the pressures stemming from others; known or unknown.  (Mainly, Satan)

Obstacles present opportunities.  It is the willingness to accept and or conquer them that is the key to successful living.  Use your obstacles as stepping-stones to climb the latter of all things good and hoped for.

“Our critics make us strong!  Our fears make us bold!  Our haters make us wise!  Our foes make us active:  Our obstacles make us passionate!  Our losses make us wealthy!  Our disappointments make us appointed!  Our unseen treasures give us a known peace.  Whatever is designed against us will work for us.”    Iraelmore Ayivor

FYI: I believe one of the greatest obstacles we face, is Doubt.  If you have a little faith, keep reading, if you don’t keep reading and empower yourself.

I have strength for all things in Christ who empowers me–I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me, (that is, I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency).

Believe this, for it is written in Philippians 4:13  (AMP)

Lord, give us the strength to face our challenges, build our character, remove all doubt, and give us the courage to overcome all obstacles in a Christ-like manner.  In Jesus name we pray.  Amen

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

“A man who was completely innocent offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became a ransom of the world.  It was a perfect act.”   Mahatma Gandhi

But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes, we are healed.   Isaiah 53:5

WHAT GOOD WILL IT DO?

The world cares very little about what a man knows; it is what a man or woman is able to do that count.  Virgil

Whether it’s talking too much, or not having enough to say, doing too much, perhaps not doing enough.  Whatever it is, or whatever we do, it all boils down to considering our actions while appealing to our common sense.  Then ask ourselves, how can I make what I do matter.

In other words: What good will it do, or How can I make it count?

When I was a young adult, I was told we are only responsible for what comes out of our mouths, not from what we understand that is kept inside. (Good and dark matters.)  So, perhaps silence is a really good answer to some questions.  After all,  “Silence is Golden,”  isn’t it?

As for me, the only time I found silence, golden, was when I couldn’t find another way out; especially when caught.  I had a Big Mouth!

Life is not easy and not always fair, and common sense should rule, but not these days.  Not since the  “New Norm.”   It’s as if common sense is not so common, anymore.  Something I would discover as it played itself out as if in slow motion.  (School rules that make no sense, police shooting, etc.)

I learned there is a lesson in how to be honest, without being brutal, just by incorporating common sense.  The problem is no one wants to hear that.  We live by our own set of rules, not godly laws.  Leaving those without common sense in charge of what they believe to make sense.

Common sense is the most widely shared commodity in the world.  For every man is convinced that he is well supplied with it.    Rene Descartes

The truth is, common sense is not always used wisely, creating more damage than deemed necessary.  Think before you speak or react, is my suggestion.  Did you know even when writing is coupled with bad spelling or improper grammar, the truth is still in there?  And by using common sense you may be able to make some sense of it.

Years ago, some family members and I were at a High School Graduation Ceremony for another family member, when the worst of the worst happened.

I noticed a woman sitting in an aisle seat, who had the appearance of a grandmother, was motionless.  The Graduates were lining up at the back of the auditorium for the procession to start, and we could hear all the excitement.  I was a few rolls back, and two seats over from the grandmother when she fell out of her seat.

After a few seconds of looking around and trying to gain my composer, I started asking those close if they had any medical skills.  Finally, someone called out from the stage for a doctor.  As the crowd gathered, the doctor took control.  So, I sat back in my seat and said to another family member, “I hope they don’t tell the graduate she’s dead.”

I had a feeling this woman was dead because of the way she fell over.  My family member was confused as to why I would say such a thing, and wondered why I didn’t think her loved one should be told?

Of course, I believe they had the right to know, just not right now; “What good would it do?”  The lady is dead.

This child will only have one High School Graduation, so I believed it could wait.  I was all for them enjoying this once in a lifetime event.  Even later on in the day when the beloved patriot is noticeably missing from the child’s festivities, some things could have been said about her absence, without ruining the day.  She’s resting; no pun intended, although it was the truth.

I thought to tell this child at that particular time, was cruel and unnecessary.  Especially, on such an important occasion in their young lives.  This incident was a horror that will last a lifetime, so how could a few more minutes of joy, hurt?  I guess I was the only one who felt that way.

In a relativity short period of time the wailing, and screaming, and kicking and pulling, could be heard and seen in the auditorium.  The whole affair had been ruined for all.

I felt sorry for that young lady, and her friends.  Their big day was unbearable because of some truth that could have been told in a more delicate manner, using timing, compassion, and tact.

Dead is dead, and there is nothing to be done except realizing that.  I don’t think Grandma would have wanted that day to be spoiled by something she had no control over.  I think if it were up to her, she would have protected that child and her friends by using the means of privacy, and not alert the entire class.  (Experience)

FYI: One’s life has value, so long as it attributes value to the life of others, by means of love, friendship, indignation, and compassion.   Simone de Beauvoir

I didn’t see anything wrong in using a little compassion sprinkled with sympathy in that situation.  But that’s just me, I’ m sure you have your own opinion.

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.   Maya Angelou

Lord, grant us the compassion needed when we react to the pain of others, and not make thoughtless decisions concerning the well-being of others, especially our young.  In Jesus name, we pray.   Amen
