I use to be a “Bad Girl,” and I am still rough around the edges; I kinda like that about me, but that’s not the issue for this post.
When I use to be a “bad girl,” my life was saved in order for me to write a book, not just any old ordinary book; the kind that strips you naked; The Truth, however embarrassing.
I have a story to share, but in order for the truth to come to the forefront I had to make peace with me, and what God’s Will was for my life. I had to forgive me for the things I had done, and still, lay my secrets out for the world to scrutinize.
This is an excerpt from my tell-all book, I Survived 60 Years to Get Cancer, Then Kill It./The Norvie L. Cherry Story.
To God Be The Glory.
An Introduction to the Times:
I survived the time the gun was placed on the side of my head, because a pimp thought it was impressive for all to see as an exhibit of manhood. Bullets were whizzing pass my head while I was driving the getaway car during an attempted robbery, not aware of the fact that robbery was the motive for my outing. I was waiting behind the wheel of my mother’s car when the shooting started. I know that sounds suspicious, but I was sixteen years old and I had crept out of the house. This was not a good move, as I would find out the hard way. Thank God I survived, but I didn’t thank Him at the time.
A few years later I was riding my motorcycle and a car came so close that it ripped the left side of my pant leg off. I had no idea why this driver was trying to run me off the road, but now I know it was the Devil. I was aware of some roadwork that was being completed and there was a gap running across the street two feet wide and a few feet deep. I led the motorist there and jumped the curb at a high rate of speed. He tore that car up and the road crew was at a loss, wondering what all the commotion was about, until I rode back around the corner and flipped him the finger. That day something helped me, but I couldn’t connect with it. Telling this story later on in life I remembered I cried out to Jesus.
I was so careless that my head was almost crushed under the right front tire of a 1976 Cutlass Oldsmobile. The tire caught a bit of my hair and pulled it out by the roots. Ouch! The gear shift chain was broken, so I had to go under the car and turn the shift by hand, and then get out alive. I know, but the problem was fixed the next day.
