There are better ways of releasing pressure other than blowing our tops, and that is to take our troubles to the “Altar in Prayer.” It’s the only way, at least the only way I know of for real relief. If you know of another way, don’t tell me, for I can only answer with, “Get behind me Satan.”
Hearing or even seeing the words of the 19th century Author, Elisha A. Hoffman, can start my eyes to watering from the emotions I have experience with that relates to a song; So simple, yet so powerful. Is Your All on the Alter?
I know what it is to go back and forth to the altar, all in an attempt to leave my troubles there. After 60 years, it still took a miracle to accomplish it. Reinforcing the Word of God. We can do nothing without him. John 15:5
When it comes to all or nothing, there is Faith; the first thing we abandon when in a dire situation, and the very thing most have been taught to depend on when things are out of our control. As sad as that may sound, or should I say, as true as it is, it gets even worst.
We are afraid and ashamed. Ashamed for others know we serve an unseen God... And that notion has caused some real anxieties in quite a few saints; the ones afraid their personal beliefs may get them kick them out of the click. Where does your Faith lay?
A question we should ask of fearful followers, the ones afraid to stand up for Christ; but believe in His existence. A cowardly act that could cause some to be bullied throughout life under the command of another; let’s call him Satan. Who by the way has no power over us, so why fear him? “Fear the Lord,” not Satan, if you want to survive all he and his cohorts can throw at you.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2nd Timothy 1:7 Use it.
We don’t want to appear out of the “norm,” (look weak) by doing the right thing. The truth is: what we don’t want, is to suffer the consequences of appearing to be doing too much in front of our peers “In the name of Jesus Christ.” Afraid, because all who believe in him will be persecuted; It is Written: 2nd Timothy 3:12
Better get over it. I believe whatever goes on Earth has to be far better than Burning in Hell.
FYI: It’s hard to tell who’s who, these days, Satan is everywhere, and fear, including pride, are killers? You had better ask somebody, somebody like me. I learned the hard way, but through experience, I found my joy and you can too, providing you take your troubles, cares, and fears to The Lord in Prayer, then, Surrendered All.
I don’t know about some, but the ones believing they don’t need prayer, or want it, may consider themselves already self-sufficient, satisfied, and righteous. So they don’t need the Lord. It seems as if the whole world in vain. Whatever, prayer demands the truth; that includes little white lies, etc...
We need Jesus Christ, Our Lord, and Savior? So we can be fulfilled, bathed in His power, using the power of prayer. Pray to Jesus, who intercedes on our behalf; the One that allows our concerns to be presented to “Our father, which art in Heaven.”
If we pay attention to the words of Elisha Hoffman’s song, Is Your All on the Altar? We may find the peace and happiness. I did.
IS YOUR ALL ON THE ALTAR?
You have longed for sweet peace, and for faith to increase, and have earnestly, fervently prayed; But you cannot rest, or be perfectly blest until all on the altar is laid.
Refrain: Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart does the Spirit control? You can only be blest, and have peace and sweet rest, as you yield Him your body and soul.
Would you walk with the Lord, in the light of His word, and have peace and contentment always? You must do His sweet will, to be free from all ill, on the altar your all you must lay.
Oh, we never can know what the Lord will bestow of the blessings for which we have prayed, till our body and soul he doth fully controls, and our all on the altar is laid.
Who can tell all the love He will send from above, and how happy our heart will be made; Of the fellowship sweet, we shall share at His feet when our all on the altar is laid. Elisha A. Hoffman 1900
Hallelujah means Praise Ye The Lord. Hallelujah, my heart cries out in great joy. To God Be The Glory!
“May our efforts, confidence and concern for others be the altar from which we pray for personal abundance.”
FYI: I always end my post with, In Jesus name we pray. When we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, we are praying based on what he had done, not on our own understanding. (Merits) It is because of him we are alive. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are alive to act and to speak. Through him, we have been baptized and saved. Thank you, Lord.
