I know what it feels like to be afraid, and I know how it feels to have acquired a sense of tranquility through trial and error. Now, I’m able to brave most tumultuous situations because of experience, and faith in Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In the carnal world, (physical) fear is a painful emotion, full of dread, panic, and terror. “When men don’t fear God, they give themselves to evil.” Ray Comfort
In my opinion, fear is the number one cause of anxiety. An emotion that is packed with real or imagined feelings of being afraid. There is so much going on in the world today fear is an everyday concern. We are fearful of impending danger around every corner. Fear of being hurt, fear of evil forces, pain; everything except the Fear of God. Why is that?
Some of our fears come from mental illnesses, and phobia’s like the abnormal fear of heights, tunnels, the bogeyman, etc.. Some face common fears such as; cancers, running out of resources. We can be apprehensive of a failing economy. There is so much to be afraid of it has become the norm to be fearful.
Let’s narrow our fears down to this: “Fear only two: God, and the man who has no Fear of God.”
Fear is one of those things most of us don’t want to face, because of the unknown. But, some of us realized after a few bouts with fear, it’s best to face our challenges head-on; that is if we can find the courage to do so. “It’s Something to Think About.”
At times, when we look back at that scary situation, more often than not, we realize, it was more of our imagination than an actual fear. In order to face fear, usually, we need something very powerful to motivate us to face the unknown. We need to be empowered to overcome our obstacles, real or dreamed in a scared heart.
I suggest, in order to defeat fear, a good start would be besides having Jesus Christ in our lives, is to make sure we open new doors by keeping a zest for life, and our curiosity about it thriving with “I wanna know.” That alone coupled with the Love of Christ will open paths we didn’t know existed, lessening the time we spend entertaining fear.
Most of the time when we consider our happiness, we are looking for it to survive in the long run. Never taking into consideration there is such a thing as short-term happiness. As far as I am concerned we should want them both. Why not? For both, long and short-term happiness is achieved the same way; favor from having a trusting relationship with Jesus Christ, a good heart, and of course a good attitude. With those proven ingredients, and by adding faith, we should have a handle on overcoming fear.
FYI: Everything we want is just on the other side of fear, especially when we know Jesus and he know us. We all should “Fear the Lord.” This fear will be beneficial and is to be encouraged as a reverential (respectable) view and be in awe of God.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding has all they that do his commandments: his praise endures for ever. Psalm 111:10
The fear of man is detrimental to all of us and should be elevated at all cost. This can be accomplished by giving all of the Glory to God. Total acknowledgment of who He is, is necessary, including receiving Him in our hearts. All is in vain if we have no knowledge of Christ or His attributes.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2nd Timothy 1:7
People who lack clarity in their life, usually are not committed to following through, because of a lack of determination, and courage. I challenge all to live in your truth, not in your fears; or die afraid and sorry. Read to remember the words in Proverbs 19:23
The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.
